Went to Melbourne on Saturday morning for the long weekend. Got up hungover as had been out to see a gig with Infadels, Dukes of Windsor and Riot in Tokyo on Friday night with some people from work. I was just going to buy a ticket on the door, but when I got there some kids were selling extra tickets outside. They had a very dodgy bottle of pre-mixed whiskey and coke on offer as part of the bargain. Was essentially drinking on the street with some young kids outside the venue. In the rain.
Melbourne was good fun. Got picked up from the airport and had lunch with my cousins Tara and Dan in the afternoon. Dan has taken on a new room-mate since I left and is now realising how easy I am to live with. There are a few south-east Asian girls I'd like have reminded of that fact.
Went out that night with Tara and Cindy and some of their mates along with Luke from the gym. However, we managed to find the worst spots to go in town this time so nowt to write home about really. Unlike the Galleon, purveyors of the best brekkie in the world. Had breakfast there on Sunday morning before calling into the Espy in the afternoon. Went into town again to Telstra Dome to watch St Kilda get hammered by the Kangaroos at Aussie Rules and bought a genuine Western Bulldogs shirt along with a couple of pies.
Met Mark, another of Tara's mates on the way back and spent the rest of the day crawling back home via various pool playing pubs.
On Monday met the rest of the family for lunch at La Roche on Acland St, where they do steak sanger and a beer for $10. No need for the menu there. Quiz night on Monday night at the Elsternwick Hotel - mid table obscurity.
Early flight to Sydney on Tuesday morning and straight back into work. Boooooooooooo. Must mention the special prize I won last week. They have a yearly office clean up in work when everyone chips in to tidy the place up a bit and there are prizes given out for best desk and all that craic. Cleaning is clearly not on my list of good points given recent events in the flat and no-one else really bothered too much on our floor. Still won a $150 meal for two as my desk is basically in the kitchen. A sympathy vote obviously.
The temperature has dropped a notch over the past week and I've had to buy a scarf. Not good when even Norn Iron is at 24 degrees.
State of Origin tonight at Telstra Stadium, which should be great.
