Fraser Island

So, we made it to Fraser Island over the weekend and it was once again fantastic. It really is my favourite place in the world. Here are some photos to show you what it was like.

There is some more mucking around with Carnie Folk teeth in this set before we headed off.

Four of us went - Me, Lia, Dave (who owns the 4x4) and Becky (on the last leg of her trip from the UK). We went up Rainbow Beach on Friday night and camped on the beach there before heading off to the island early on Saturday morning. Every day on the island was fantastic - from the lakes of Boomajin, Birabeen and Mackenzie on Saturday; Indian Heads and Champagne Pools on Sunday; and lake Wabby on Monday afternoon. There was even a full moon rising over the ocean horizon on Saturday night. The only problem was that we greatly underestimated the amount of booze we'd need as one case of beer was polished off on the drive up to Rainbow Beach. It's $50 for 12 beers on the island so we paid for that one. A great trip though.

In the meantime, it's been my birthday since the last proper update and I was lucky enough to be given a guitar as a present from Lia. I had happened to mention that I wouldn't mind learning one day and that day is now apparently. Eric Clapton I'm not, absolutely terrible at it in fact, but give me a few months and it'll be singing sweetly. Unlike me. Awful voice I have. There are some photos of the birthday shenanigans here too.
