Music and Hot Fuzz

The Golden Plains music festival was good craic at the weekend. Got picked up in Geelong by a mate from work in a 1979 Holden, pictured. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten to bring his tickets from Melbourne - an hour away. It turned out well though, as a mate of his was able to pick them up leaving time for us to get some breakfast on the way.

Eventually got to the festival and were still able to camp right beside a big open marquee that provided much needed shade and had a view of the stage. Actually went to bed pretty early on Saturday and was well rested for Sunday, which was the non-stop music day/night. One of my favourite moments of the weekend was during Sunday morning when we were queued up to get breakfast and an Irish girl got to the counter and asked for 5 teas. Made me laugh, altogether.

Sunday was way colder and windy so the campsite was a virtual dust storm. Closer to the stage was better protected with trees so spent most of the day down there watching a pretty wide variety of bands. Highlights over the weekend were The Drones and The Bellrays on Saturday; Goyte and The Presets on Sunday.

You can see my mini tent getting hammered in the wind here. Two man my arse. It was like sleeping in clingfilm on Sunday night. Didn't have long to sleep though as we had to get up pretty early to leave on Monday and didn't get to bed until 6:00am. Still catching up on it now and it's Wednesday. Mind you, Monday was the Labor Day public holiday in victoria so did absolutely nothing all day but lie on the sofa and dip in and out of sleep.

Met Simon Pegg and Nick Frost today, who're here promoting Hot Fuzz. Even got a picture of them with Cecelia, Rosie and Mark.

It's the Melbourne Grand Prix this weekend and I should be able to get down at some point even though I'm not really into watching cars. Even if they are fast cars.
