Made the most of my good fortune by turning up on Saturday at 5:00pm just to watch Wolfmother playing on the entertainment stage. They were brilliant. The fella with the mad curly hair even did some crowd surfing after the gig, as you can see here.
Went again on Sunday for the Grand Prix proper and had a great time although I'm sunburnt. Again. It was a great experience though and well recommended. Went with my cousin Cindy, her boyfriend Gavin and his brother Lee. They're mad into cars and all that craic so were well happy to get in for nowt.
Met a Scot from Glasgow afterwards in Young and Jackons. I'd only called in for a quick beer but got talking and it ended up being a late night. He was sound although he also asked the obligatory question - Celtic or Rangers?
There was a big group of lads, mostly Irish, who were carrying on from the night before. The Scottish lad, Cieron, was working on Paddy's Day so was out in full kilt for a belated celebration. I was happy to join in as it been a pretty quiet Paddy's Day after the Wolfmother gig. I'd met Cindy after the gig on Saturday for a quick beer and to give her tickets for the Grand Prix, then went off home at a reasonable hour. So Sunday night was pretty messy.
Also saw Eagles of Death Metal playing on Friday night and they were a little disappointing to be honest. There was also a Norn Iron band playing called The Answer. They're not. Very long hair though.
Last week of work this week and it will be a pity to leave as it's one of the best places I've ever worked. Ah well. It does mean that there'll be leaving drinks. So far we've planned for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
