Another hot weekend

Melbourne Victory are the Grand Final winners of the A-League by a massive 6-0 margin. However, the match sold out in about 5 seconds so I missed out on a ticket.

The final was played against Adelaide Utd, which was quite fitting as I met a load of people from there on Thursday night. I was out after work with a lad from the Adelaide office who was in town to help install a trial software upgrade. A load of his mates now live here in Melbourne so went out with them and for the first time met someone who lives in the same area I do. Only took 3 and half months. Turns out the lad from the Adelaide office also makes his own booze, moonshine style. He reckons he can make any spirit right down to the brand type, which he makes in massive batches. Have earmarked some time for Adelaide that was not previously on the agenda. Illegal booze in a fire-trap - that's what travelling should be about.

Spent some time with Tara over the weekend. Saw Hannibal Rising on Friday night, which in my humble opinion is ballex. Sorted that out with some beer in Bridie's. Went out for lunch on Saturday at a place on Chapel St after nearly breaking my back at the gym in the morning - was walking like a slow cripple all day. Best remedy for a sore back? Ten pin bowling, obviously. With a couple of bottles of wine.

Went out playing pool and dancing at Di Biers on Flinders Lane on Saturday night. Good craic but drinking since 2 had taken it's toll and it was a fairly early night. Was falling asleep when we managed to track a taxi down.

Had the best breakfast ever at The Galleon, St Kilda. Was in fine form after that so decided that going to the beach would be no problem, after a couple of beers in the Espy. I'd been in Australia for a while now. What could go wrong? Well, my head went wrong as it was 38 degrees again. At the time I thought it was great to sit in the sea and relax although I've revised that opinion now.

You can see the red head below - that's not a happy look on my face. Not so much hair on top these days either by the look of that.

Anyway, before the sting kicked in, had a margarita by the sea in Soul Mama and then more food at La Roche on Acland St - $8 for a jug of beer. So was happy as larry for all of Sunday but sore and ridiculed at work for all of Monday.

Had dinner on Monday night with Dan's godparents, Rod and Sue. They run a music shop in the centre of Melbourne called Basement Discs, but more importantly Sue is a brilliant cook. I've been there previously and it's been a loosely permanent arrangement for Monday nights since I arrived in Melbourne. Always good food and a load of music to listen to.
