Been in Surfers Paradise since Good Friday and it's been pretty mental. It's a small place and there are loads of high rise buildings, a beach and not a lot else.
Was a bit apprehensive when I first arrived as the hostel seems to cater for a youngish party loving crowd. In fact, spent most of Friday trying to avoid going back there. As it was Good Friday nowhere would serve alcohol without a meal. Ate a fair amount of food. However, when I did get back to the hostel it was great. Their bar was open and there was a killer pool competition going on. I won! - about $40 that was put behind the bar. Met some Canadian lads and played a weird card game called 7 and a half, which involves a lot of drinking. So we nailed the pool winnings in that game.
All the nightclubs could start serving alcohol again after midnight so the hostel staff took us all down to some place and I got back at 5:00 in the morning.
Saturday was pretty quiet and involved a lot of sleeping. Some English lads moved into the room at that point and we had some beers that evening. Met the Canadian lads again and played more cards. The hostel had arranged a pub crawl that night as well so more of the same. Didn't win the pool comp this time though.
Today been sleeping a lot again but just had some good spicy squid at a Korean BBQ place. And it's raining. What's that all about? Going to go on the Vomatron later I think.
