It's been a while since I've managed to write anything although it has been a pretty interesting couple of weeks.
The sun is starting to shine here in Sydney and everyone is instantly in a better mood. We had a long weekend just gone there and everyone in NSW was off on Monday.
I did a bit of city hopping and went to Melbourne on Saturday for what was meant to be an early family Christmas. For various reasons this didn't happen and what I actually did was help Cindy move house to Essendon. One of the reasons she moved out there was to find somewhere with a large back yard that her 2 boxer dogs could run around. Well, one of the dogs had a heart murmur and got so excited at being there it had a heart attack and died. Plus, there was no electricity in the house until yesterday so it wasn't the best of times for poor Cindy.
So Dan and I went off to find solace in the best curry restaurant in Melbourne - the Indian Star. Decided against eating Korean. I met Tara later that night as she is off to Thailand and then Prague over the next couple of months.
It was a big sporting weekend too. The AFL Grand Final was on Saturday and the NRL Grand Final was on Sunday. Watched the AFL in a dodgy old man's pub in Essendon and was back in the North Bondi RSL in Sydney for the NRL final. Landed in Sydney at around 2:30pm and went straight to Lauren and Darrin's house to get directly stuck into a load of VB. Spent the rest of Sunday and Monday either there or at another couple of lads flat overlooking Maroubra beach. Perfect weather and good company all round.
Before I'd left the house for the weekend I was talking to my flatmate Mitch on Friday night. I met her in the local with Kim Sauberg who I'd worked with in Melbourne and accompanied to the Golden Plains music festival. He was in the city for a flying visit so I took the afternoon off and had a few beers in the city. We then went up to my neck of the woods in Balmain. During that conversation Mitch offered to do my washing as I'd be out and she had nothing planned. It cost me $40 but she washed, folded and hung up 4 loads of washing. How good is that?
The weekend before last was pretty similar now I think about it. Was at Lauren and Darrin's house drinking a load of VB although I did manage to get out around Iron Cove for the weekly run. Not been so successful this week.
Was out in Woolloomooloo last Wednesday night to sample some of the food at the Woolloomooloo Beach Hotel. Thursday night was out with work to see a preview screening of the new Farrelly Brothers film - just us in a 30 seat cinema you could drink beer in. We then went out to the Bavarian Beer cafe for lots of sausage and deep fried food. And beer.
