Killing Time

I spoke to all the parties concerned with my visa application on Monday morning and no-one has a definitive answer about how the process is going. Another potential spanner in the works happened on Saturday with the general election. There is a new Labor government who are determined to reverse the changes the old government made half way through my original application and which caused the initial delay. No-one knows how long that is likely to take or if it will indeed happen so I am basically killing time until something changes. And not getting paid, which will very shortly become a major issue.

It does mean I've more time to write in the blog though. Moved house on Sunday afternoon to Bondi Junction where my room is smaller but it's still a house with a back yard so plenty of space. I sincerely hope that I'm not moving again after the 3 month honeymoon period comes to an end. We'll see. In one final twist my old flatmate pulled out of buying my bed (the new room is furnished) at the last minute. So, dropped in it again, I have to find a buyer this week or it's going to charity.

Proximity to the coast definitely has it's advantages and I walked the 5km from Bondi Beach to Coogee yesterday afternoon. Some pictures below.

Had a few beers over the weekend as well. Met up with a few of the people from our department in work for a leaving do on Friday night. There was karaoke involved, which has never been my strong point.

Met Dave Wood and his flatmate on Saturday and went to the Comedy Store in Moore Park where a couple of average Aussie comedians were on. Then watched football in the city until about 5:00am. Much easier to watch the games back in the UK, that's for sure. Plus, all plans to get Foxtel installed are on the shelf until further notice.

After moving on Sunday afternoon was up in Newport in the Northern Beaches, which are a series of beaches that get progressively prettier the further away from Sydney you get. Picture postcard perfect with a massive platter of seafood from the grill of the Newport Arms. A good day.
