Shenanigans

Took Monday off work with a case of the man flu. First Aussie sickie so feel like I've arrived in Sydney in a way that I hadn't previously.

Must admit it was marginally my own fault for having another one of those quiet weekends that ended up mostly on other people's sofas. Had taken last Thursday off as well to watch the Champions League final. Didn't make it into town as I slept in a bit. Probably just as well as my boss was sitting in the office watching a load of Utd fans clambering all over a beer delivery truck at 8:00am on Thursday morning. I would have been in that pub too had I made it up in time. A few people rang me to find out if I was in the midst of it all, which is reasonable assumption I suppose. Had a rather spiffing day off mind you. Watched the match another couple of times in one of the local pubs in the Junction.

It was a chap's leaving do on Friday at a bar in the ground floor of our office block. $2.50 a beer in happy hour. Sam invited me out to a party on Saturday night with a load of ex-pats she knows who hang around a pub called the Trinity in Surry Hills. Decent party with a couple of kegs of Coopers out the back. One of the best beers out here is that.

Went over to Balmain on Sunday to watch some egg chasing. The West Tigers were playing Gold Coast. The Tigers were amalgamated from 2 other teams when the NRL started. They don't play in Balmain very often so when they do the crowd is pretty good and it's got an old fashioned 'hill' as part of the stand. Basically a grassy knoll going round the pitch. Old school but good and will definitely go back. When I'm over the man flu.
