Tara in Town

Tara was visiting from Melbourne last weekend and it was a well timed visit thanks to the extra day off on Monday. She arrived on Saturday night at around 7:00pm so we ditched her bags at the house and headed straight out on the town. Called into a few places in the Junction before heading to Darlinghurst where White Russians made it an early night for poor Tara.

I met one of my old flatmates in Darlinghurst by chance - one of the few decent ones I had prior to where I am now. Turns out Lauren (for that's her name) moved out of the Balmain nightmare house about one week after me. I felt slightly vindicated and ordered another White Russian.

Tara was knocked for six on Sunday so we spent some time in a dark room watching The Painted Veil, which is frankly pants. Ironman is way better. Met Dave Wood afterwards as he'd just finished a six hour exam and was in dire need of some refreshments. That was in Paddington and the whole place was heaving with the public holiday.

Went for yum cha on Monday morning with a lad called Justin who Tara had met on one of her tours to Thailand. He's another computer nerd who makes me seem positively creative by comparison. We had planned to go whale watching but the weather was pretty rubbish so went to see Dolphins and Whales in 3D at the IMAX theatre. Made The Painted Veil look like the best film ever made. Had some more drinks around Darling Harbour and then came back home to talk rubbish with Sam for the rest of the night.

All this and me with a bad back. Went to the gym for the first time in a long time on Saturday morning and I haven't been able to stand up straight ever since. That'll learn me.
