Anzac Weekend

Last Sunday was Anzac Day when all the old Diggers get up for dawn service and remember those who fought and died for Australia. Of course it's also the only day of the year when Two Up is played. This year the patrons of the Exchange, Balmain once again gratefully received all my hard earned cash. Four years in a row I've lost it all. Four fucking years! It's all very good craic though. I lost my voice for a while shouting "Head em Up" or "Tail em Up". Basically whatever was opposite to what was actually up. We bumped into Jano over there and her a few others came back to our house after all the gambling was over. Ended up being quite a late night it must be said.

Spent the Monday public holiday doing nothing but watching DVDs and our first Blu Ray disc - Looking for Eric. Gold, as they say in Australia.

It's with a sense of trepidation that I say this but I've stupidly signed up for a boot camp starting on Monday. At 6:00am. Not a time of the morning I'm normally accustomed to but the old belly is starting to take over so needs must. Lia is also going and it's safe to say we are bricking it. Anyway, we think that the four weeks of early morning will enable us to drink and eat more once it's all over. "Cycles," I think Cristiano Ronaldo would call it.

Speaking of football, I've been down to the casino to watch the past few Utd games and a fine experience it's been (except for the Chelsea game). They have a cinema sized screen and it's always packed. Although my mate did get chucked out last week by an over zealous bouncer. That wasn't so good. Wont make it this week though as the game is on at 1:00am and I've got to be up at 5:30am for bloody boot camp. Did I mention I wasn't really looking forward to it?

One last thing. I don't normally do this but feel that it's worth pointing out that Slash was in the office yesterday. Rock and roll eh? He's not very big. His bouncer was.

One other last thing. It gets rather busy on Anzac Day and they even put toilets on the street. Absolutely genius! That's me and Jay, Lia's brother, giving the facilities an early test run.
