Extreme Heat and Power Cuts

It was absolutely roasting this week and was 40+ degrees outside on Tuesday while I was writing the last entry. Even the breeze would dry your eyes out. There were power cuts across most of the state of Victoria as the bush fires burnt out one of the main transmitter lines. This on the day when everyone was hammering their air conditioning at full tilt. Traffic lights, trams, trains all knacked. Needless to say, it took a while to get home.

Hot days are invariably followed by hot nights, which don't lend themselves to a good nights kip. Toss and turn and sweat and swear all night so then wake up the next morning tired and angry. And everyone else is fairly similar on the train in the morning too. Bit like the Tube really.

Thankfully it's back to a respectable temperature today and people are back to their cheery selves. Am celebrating with a couple of beers this evening on Chapel Street.
