Now then, it's Paddy's Day after lunchtime. I've had 4 pints of Guinness (with 2 pieces of black pudding) for lunch across the road at Scruffy Murphys and this afternoon is starting to drag on a bit.
Had some good news today. Austereo will now sponsor me for as long as I have a visa to work here, not just until May when the original contract was due to run out. Hence the additional free spirited abandon at lunchtime.
Spent Friday afternoon on a half day over at Watson's Bay. It was a perfect day, blue skies, warm, seafood platter and jugs of beer. And Kathy Freeman was there too.
Met Dave and his flatmate on Saturday night at Cafe Sydney. It's a pretty posh place opposite Circular Quay railway station but bizarrely it has swastikas tiled into the floor of the entrance foyer. Weird. So, I met them for a drink after they'd been to see a comedy night at the Opera House - a chap named Wil Anderson who works for Triple M as it happens. Dave says, why not have a brandy like this one. Ok, says I and $26 later I had a shot of alcohol. Cheers. Toured round a few pubs, had the worst kebab in the history of kebabs and then got head-butted in the mouth when Ronaldo scored against Derby at 3:16am. All in good fun though, just a little exuberance after the frustration of the previous 75 minutes.
Went to Sunday Safari in Camperdown. On Sunday, funnily enough. Undefeated at playing pool over there I was. Avoided the Paddy's Day parade in the city as it was hectic. Had some tasty Tapas for dinner and now here I am. More Guinness to follow tonight and then hibernation for the rest of the week.
