Balmain and Bronte

It turned out to be a great little weekend. There was no team meet on the rooftop on Friday night because of some nonsense to do with Australian Idol. Had a few beers at my desk and then headed over to Balmain for a BBQ collecting the obligatory case of VB on the way. It was very dark by the time we ate anything but I hear it was a good spread.

Saturday was really warm so we went over to my neck of the woods in the Eastern Suburbs and hung around the park in Bronte just behind the beach. The sea was refreshing as were the beers. However, my bocce skills were piss poor. I lost by a mile.

We headed back to Balmain in the evening with the best taxi driver ever. Well, he seemed to have fun as we sang along to Kings of Leon at volume 11.

Kings of Leon (in tune)

Cruising

The best part of the weekend though was the find of year for me. All India Indian restaurant just off Darling Street. The best curry I've had in Australia and I think it's right up there with those fantastic places in Leeds/Bradford we used to frequent all those years ago now. Will be back there for sure. Balmain that is, not Leeds/Bradford.

Continuing the food theme of the weekend we went to the Fish Markets in Pyrmont on Sunday. It was another fine day and we got a mountain of freshly caught and cooked fish and ate it in the park across the street. And this time my bocce skills were up to the task. Much better. Finished off in a pub that had no drinks and then it was Monday.

I'm on a training course all this week which finishes at 4:30 every day. There are some right nerds there so I fit in nicely. It beats working, but I'll be there for team meet on Friday afternoon as long as some other losers haven't hijacked the rooftop for something else again.
