Well, as promised last weekend was the Labour Day Long Weekend and it was certainly interesting. There were no post work drinks on Friday as most people had long gone by 3:00pm so we went to a pub called the Hollywood, which is apparently owned by an old actress who was sitting at the bar when we arrived. There are pictures of her in her heyday all over the place. Eventually ended up going to see the Futureheads at the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills. They were good but not as good as when I saw them in Leeds a few years back.
Saturday was the day at the races and I once again showed why I should never bet on anything. Absolutely rubbish and expensive at that. We went to the Coogee Bay Hotel afterwards and for a while was talking to a group of people born in 1990. That would have been a sobering thought in any other circumstances but I was drowning my sorrows.
Watched the NRL Grand Final on Sunday at North Bondi RSL. The result and match was the complete opposite of last years final played by the same teams. This year Manly beat Melbourne by a massive margin, which is bad enough as I support Melbourne but everyone else seems to hate Manly.
Had a very pleasant day on Monday house sitting in Collaroy (in North Sydney) and catching up with the English Premiership on the most comfortably massive bean-bag ever made. Had some inedible Thai food, which took the polish off the day a little, but it was washed down with some Little Creatures. A nice end to an adventurous weekend.
