Beethoven

Beethoven knew what he was doing when he wrote his Ninth Symphony, there is no question about it. It was spectacular, especially the second half. A hairs on the back of your neck raising, lump in the throat making, nearly crying piece of brilliance. The venue is pretty good too.

Went to the concert with Dave, his flatmate Justin and his flatmate's fiancée Kelly. We were all suited and had a few drinks in the Rocks before heading over to the Opera House. Was in the Shangri La hotel bar for the first time as well. It's well known for the great views over the harbour but they make you pay for it. Just so happened to be my round when we got there. I asked for a glass of champagne for Kel. A glass, not a bottle.

Barman, "You want the $20, $30 or $55 champagne?"

Me, "Make that a gin and tonic please."

They did have Black Bush though and I got us three of those. Justin hadn't tasted it before and was suitably impressed.

After the show Dave and I carried on with a few beers around the city and were going to watch some football but couldn't be bothered in the end and called it a night. After a pie from Harry's of course.
